Nutrient Dense – Whole Food – Lasting Energy

Starting your morning with a healthy and delicious smoothie is a very simple something you can do to really kick-start your day! This mixed berry and spinach smoothie is packed full of vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber and omega 3 fatty acids to keep you full and keep your blood sugar stable for hours. It’s easy to make even in a rush and packs very well in a travel container or shaker.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups frozen mixed berries (blackberries, blueberries, strawberries)
• 1 cup plain yogurt (optional)
• 1 cup spinach, washed
• 1 cup water
• 2 tablespoons ground flax seed
• 1 orange, juice squeezed into blender

Directions:

Prep Note: Grind flax seed before adding to smoothie to reap the greatest nutritional benefit. Flax seed can be eaten whole, but is not easily digestible. You can purchase pre-ground seed, or grind yourself with a coffee grinder.

1. Add all ingredients to blender.
2. Blend well; approximately 1-2 minutes.
3. Pour and ENJOY!

Yield: 2 smoothies; can be saved in fridge for 24 hours. Mix well before enjoying a saved smoothie as it will separate.
